My art career began at an early age. Growing up my mom was an artist so I was always exposed to art of all kinds. In this ceramics class, the curriculum offered a dynamic blend of both hand building and wheel throwing techniques. Throughout the course, I gained valuable skills in various pottery techniques. This made me grow my passion for ceramics and art in general. It allowed me to create my own art path and express myself through art. In ceramics I started with crafting pinch pots, and moved onto wheel throwing, experimenting with high fire glaze applications, and low fire glazing. I also learned how to roll, cut and use clay slabs, and how to form coil pots. The comprehensive nature of the class not only broadened my understanding of ceramic art but also equipped me with a diverse set of techniques to express my creativity and bring my artistic visions to life. My favorite thing was wheel throwing. I find it fascinating how you can throw a piece of plain clay on a spinning wheel and create things that people use on a daily basis. My favorite thing to make is handless cups. I find them multi diverse and can use them for so many different things. When people see my art the main reaction I want is for people to see the uniqueness of each piece and value difference as beauty. I find art as a way to escape reality and move into a safe part of my mind. It's also a way to show others my emotions through creative expression. Without art my life would be one sided. I wouldn't have a way to switch out of my academic mindset and move to something more calming. Art calms my anxiety and makes me a better version of myself.

Responding -I can apply literacy skills to describe, analyze, interpret, and evaluate art.
This class allowed me to express myself through art. I was able to find my own unique style and create work that I was truly proud of. During my self directed project I was able to bring a family tradition into my art and make something my family will use. Because I was born in Britain and my family is from there, we fulfill the British stereotypes and drink a lot of tea. Because of this I made a tea set for my family. While creating this I used my skills of sketching out my art that I learned in painting. This allowed me to create a better representation of my art in the final product.
Producing and Presenting - I can create an original body of work and then select my best work to present it in a portfolio and an exhibition. Choose your best 3 options from the list below:
The select pieces above are chosen not only because they are some of my favorites but also because they show my growth as an artist. As an artist not every piece is my favorite and some of them i think that i should re-do. But in art as I grow I find beauty in the mistakes I've made and pieces that I may dislike. It shows my progress and keeps a piece of myself from the past.
In this class I've grown with my skills and mindset. Before this class i was average at ceramics and every ceramics piece i made i disliked. Throughout this class my skills have improved as I was able to learn the skills to create work that I imagined. I also started to become more confident with my work that I created. Because of this class I decided to create my own ceramics club for my school to spread my new found passion for ceramics to others.
